Food Services Director wins REgional Associate of the Year Award
ST. CHARLES, Mo. (September 14, 2016) - The City of St. Charles School District is pleased to announce that Shirley Derby, Food Services Director, has been named as the South Central Regional Salaried Associate of the Year. Derby, who has been working with the District since 2005, was presented with the award during the Board of Education meeting on September 8. Derby’s services are contracted out through Chartwells K12, a K-12 food service provider.
“Shirley displays compassion and caring for the needs of our students every day,” said Dr. Charles Brazeale, Associate Superintendent of Business and Technology. “She works hard to meet the needs of her staff and the district, but most importantly puts the needs of our students and their families at the center of her focus.”
In presenting the award, Bruce Norman, Chartwells Regional Vice President, remarked that Derby’s ability to actively engage students, build strong relationships with staff members and utilize a natural leadership style is what makes her a successful food services director.
“We’re ecstatic to recognize Shirley for her passion and dedication to building a great program for the district,” Norman said. “We are lucky to have her as a member of the Chartwells team and are eager to watch her to continue to grow as a leader.”
As a recipient of the Regional Salaried Associate of the Year, Derby is now in the contention for the Chartwells K12 National Salaried Associate of the Year. If selected, she will be honored at the annual “Night of the Stars” celebration hosted in Orlando, Fl. in October.
